The DV Crane II.2 Setup Instructions

  1. Centre the DV Crane pan head over the tripod head plate’s 3/8” screw. Turn the handle clockwise to attach.
  2. Mount camera or weights in the order preferred. Tightening screw for the weight bar and the camera extension will need to be loosened.  You can add the weights by putting 2 plates on the right and one on the left handle. Secure the plates with the supplied clamps.
  3. Mount the camera and secure it on tight by turning the wing nut with maximum finger strength.
  4. Plug the supplied 12’ RCA monitor cable into your camera and your monitor.
  5. To extend, loosen the extension tightening bolt and the fixed rod extension tightening bolt.
  6. Extend the crane to the desired length and tighten. It will extend to a maximum 85 inches (from the tripod head) before stopping. NOTE:  Extending is easier with no weights (no downward force) on the rear extending weight bar, as there is minimal clearance between the camera extension and the weight bar.
  7. Remember to lock off your extension by turning the tightening bolt for the camera extension and the fixed rod.
  8. Extend your weight bar to find a balance for easier, smoother craning and you’re ready to begin shooting.
  9. The handle and camera mount can be reversed if desired.
  10. The inexpensive Bescor motorized pan tilt head or other pan tilt heads can be added to allow for even more camera movement possibilities.

To reverse handle and camera mount:

Remove the lock nuts on the fixed rod (for the tilting lever) on the camera mount and the small support bar. Reposition the small support bar using the second hole. Reverse camera mount and tilt control handle and replace connecting bolt and lock nuts. You’ll need a wrench or nut driver and an Allen key to make the changes.
